Challenge:
Patrick has a business which makes him a contractor that works for other companies. For some, he charges per hour and some he fixes the price. He needed a system built to make calculations on each work done, the tax on each payment because the taxes are different. So he required an arithmetic system that automates the amounts put into it.
The system was also to automatically pull the client the work belonged to.
So in summary, Patrick wanted to make at most two clicks and make many actions happen.
Solution:
If what Patrick wanted wasn’t possible, I would have mentioned to him how his needs are like an impossible task. Indeed what Patrick wanted was possible but according to the workflow of Notion which was configured. The job recordings had different workflows due to the fact that some were fixed price jobs and some were hourly jobs.
Anyway, the system was built with the “two clicks many actions” mindset and it works perfectly.
